Here are photos of my container garden. I have harvested a dozen
cucumbers, 20 pounds of potatoes, bunches of broccoli, an eggplant, a
dozen tomatoes, a handful of strawberries and a dozen different herbs.
In our front yard, we have a dozen pots of flowers, including roses,
bougainvillea and mandevilla.

468: A plumeria. The fragrant flowers
are used to make leis in Hawaii. |
455: One of about two dozen clivias
in my collection. |
456: Okra flowers are similar to hibiscus
flowers, but they only last a few hours |

458: A Tiger Baby ice box watermelon
growing in a half whiskey barrel. |
461: Several cucumbers growing on a trellis.
(At least they started out that way.)
Now they are trying to get in the tomato pots. |
463: Cajun bell peppers look like
green peppers, but they're spicy hot. |

457: This clivia has a better shape to the umbel of flowers than the one
above, so I'm using it to breed.

doubled in size in the last couple weeks. |

471: Gerbera, commonly called African Daisy. |
472: One day's harvest of eggplant,
cucumbers, my first tomato and
red potatoes. I got 20 pounds of
potatoes from 1 pound
planted in a 20-gallon tub.

475: Dragon wing begonia again |

483: One of several mixed baskets of petunias,
million bells and bacopa. |
487: A Showbiz rose, a floribunda.
The Japanese beetles are crazy for this plant.

476: This mixed basket is hanging on
a black walnut tree. Walnuts are the
reason I must grow everything in containers. |
479: A gorgeous and easy to grow mandevilla. |
481: This petunia grows like crazy. |

490: Another petunia. |
469: Another shot of the plumeria. I purchased this plant
by mail order on September 10, 2001, so it was
delayed in getting to me due to the flight moratorium.
As a result, it was set back for some time. This is actually
the first year its had any significant bloom. Is there meaning in that?

| This is my harvest from the tomatoes in just the past 24 hours. I have six different heirlooms growing. They're not always beautiful, but they are absolutely delicious. The other is the larva of the five-spotted hawk moth. The hawk moth is one of the hummingbird moths, called that because they are as large as hummingbirds and rapidly flutter their wings while hovering and gathering nectar from flowers. |
